How to Overclock Your Bitmain AntMiner Z9 Mini ASIC Miner

  • In order to push the sales of Antminer Z9 SIC miner, the Bitmain resorted to tactics such as removing the overclock options. The first Z9 Mini miners had a dropdown box, where you could easily select the operating frequency of the miner’s chips.

Moreover, as the Bitmain Antminer Z9 Mini, did overclock with a 50% increase in their mining performance, it is something that should be done right after you get the device out of the box. At 250 Watts of power usage at the default 500 MHz, a 10 K/sol Z9 Mini can easily do 15K/sol when overclocked to 700 MHz without problems at 350 Watts.

How to overclock the new Antminer Z9 Mini

To overclock from the web-based interface under miner configuration, advanced settings, all you see is the Balanced under the frequency dropdown menu. It represents the default frequency of 500 MHz.

In order to limit the overclocking functionality is to remove the options from HTML code of the page. It is a fairly easy task, as you can add options yourself by just editing the source code of that particular page. In this way, you will be able to set the clocks higher.

Although there are many ways to do this, this is the best one, as you just have to edit the page code on the fly on any browser save & apply the settings directly. This way ensures that the device operates at a higher frequency. You have to hover the drop down box and right click on the Balanced and Inspect Element.

After that, you will come across a commented option for Turbo set at 550 MHz as a value.  You can edit it by removing the commenting brackets at the start and end of the line. Once the editing is finished, apply the changes and you will see them active on the web page immediately.

The change nevertheless is temporary, so that you can click on save and apply to get the new operating frequency saved in the miner’s configuration file. However, as the page reloads all the changes will be lost as these are not permanently saved.

In addition to this, you can begin at 700 MHz because everything will be stable and you will have to manually increase the speed of the cooling fan and stable as you overclock. In order to squeeze extra performance, you can further up the operating frequency to 750 MHz.
