RuneScape takes place at a medieval fantasy kingdom

  • That it looked quaintly old-fashioned, with isometric 3D visuals that could be confused The Adventures of Robin Hood. Released just a few years prior to World of Warcraft, RuneScape was one of those first MMORPGs with RuneScape gold, and holds the Guinness World Record for being the game.

    As befits a fantasy epic, RuneScape takes place at a medieval fantasy kingdom called Gielinor, which can be divided up into kingdoms, areas, and towns. There's no story aside from the one you make yourself up, or on the way that you meet along with the supportive community members.

    Over the years RuneScape has been upgraded with slicker modern 3D visuals, but that hasn't been to everybody's tastes. That Jagex conducted a survey in 2013 inquiring players if it'd be a good idea to take RuneScape back to its old school roots.

    Old School RuneScape takes a different strategy. RuneScape originally began in 2001 and has seen its motor revised into what's known as RuneScape two and RuneScape 3. For really retro, Old School RuneScape employs the original game engine, with nominal updates to be able to function on modern hardware.This makes Old School RuneScape look... well, awful. Not one of those MMOs look especially good however, Old School RuneScape asserts the simplest models and textures you can picture from 2001. But that's merely part of the retro charm.
