Outdoors or indoors? Depends/both
Does climate/weather affect your option? You bet, My asthma is adversely affected by winter. But it doesn't stop me from doing things like snowboarding or alpinism. I just won't do like go for a casual jog in the snow.
Is physical workout selfish? Not likely. Its a great thing to model for your kids and it will help you live longer and have a better standard of living. You will have less stress and be better equipped to address your family and you will be happier. I don't see how any of which construed as selfish.
Why do you drag your ass to whatever work out you do if you decide to work out? Is this diverse from motivation question somehow?
LOL Trying to think of the rest to throw in this thread for discussion/debate. Rockclimbing, Alpinism, Backpacking and cycling gear are the costliest. I also get some home workout equipment. It doesn't always have to be as expensive as I make it though.

ETA How much does it cost for one to exercise? Do you bare bones it and get only the essentials or do you allow for luxuries?300 a year gym gym, But at this point I am not going, I just walk and more often than not work out at home.

What gear do sounds best? Saucony sneakers, Athletics activities bras, Micro-fiber shirts; Some hand weights and a Firm stepper for indoor exercise routine.

Is it sanctimommyish to exercise outdoors year long? Not a term i'd personally use. My home is Wisconsin, But still walk outside in the wintertime during lunch(Today was encompassing 25F). I exercise indoors for fun on saturday.
Is physical exertion selfish? A number of, But you'll need to be selfish to maintain sanity and health. I'm sure my family gets the power by me not going crazy on them.

How much does it cost to actually exercise? I am self enthusiastic. I own an eliptical and equipment, And a few DVDs. Driving outside is free. No gym gym required, Plus no travel time required so I may be possible in 30 minutes.

As for systems, I most importantly use the ARC trainer. I can burn the most calories in the leats time(500 600 in 40 moments, According to my energey level effort) I do this on my lunch hour so 40 additional no time at all is all I have. Not long started trying to run find I do ok outside, But have a problem keeping my balance on the treadmill. Running outside isn't necessarily optimal for me, As it's humid even now I have trouble in the heat humidity.

I wantfeel good about my figure again, Not concern yourself jiggling in the wrong places. I also feel better emotionally when I'm working out.
