The Levator Scapulae Muscle And Neck Pain

  • Right now I'm going to tell you a little account that happened this morning then made me create this article. This neighbour texts me with 7am to ask if I may help him, he woke up rigid and with a lot of pain in the neck. So I told your pet to come and after a quick evaluation it was easy to realise which his Levator Scapulae had been injured.

The Levator Sapulae is a muscle that primarily elevates the Scapula (shoulder blade). Its attachments would be the transverses processes of C1 to C4 (first cervical vertebra to fourth cervical vertebra) to the medial boundary of the scapula, from the exceptional angle to the root of the actual spine of the scapula.

Because i've mentioned before it improves the scapula but also stretches the neck (at the actual spinal joints) and side to side flexes the neck baclofen intrathecal pump (at the spinal joints). This particular muscle lies under the trapezius muscle in its inferior part, and is deep to some throat muscles on its outstanding portion, the splenius capitis and the sternocleidomastoid.

So back in my miserable neighbour spectacular sore neck, i asked him or her what happened, and he explained "oh, i think its this pillow". I know he will do a lot of desk work and so his neck gets quite tight, and maybe a pillow case that is too high could make the case worse. The pain was firing from the top of the neck into his shoulder.

He am not able to turn his head to a single side and it was challenging look down and up. No ask yourself why, those are all what the levator scapula can. But why does it transpire?

Computer work is usually the reason why. Sitting at a desk for hours on end we get tired and after reproducing the same thing over and over again, day after day, full week after week, your muscles sooner or later will get used to that healthy posture and you start losing kinetic functionality. The muscles in the front side of the neck (scalenes) since the top of baclofen for headaches the neck (sub occipitals) become short, typically the pectoralis muscles (chest), force, deltoids (shoulder), sub scapularis and serratus anterior (under the arm and around the ribs) all get tight.

They probably dehydrates in the office knowning that just makes the situation a whole lot worse. Then no stretching, weak technique when exercising, unstable neck, etc, etc, etc ... Sooner or later the body gives up, one muscle tissue fails, the rest of the muscles for the reason that area will have to compensate. In case the levator scapulae gets a rigorous pull, the compensating muscle groups try to protect it along with go into a strong spasm, subsequently there you go, injury, inflammation, stiffness, frustration, pain killers, and so forth
