MatK stated there will not be a skill in OSRS gold
Here is the issue though, so far virtually everything. Warding could have turned into a crafting/magic expansion, it'd have a great deal of content that could have made it a skill but players REEE'd at all it had to be chucked. Artisan could have been an expansion to every skill potential, because it was essentially slayer v2, just for skilling. Pet Ranching Is essentially player owned farms from RS3 again, does have potential though.
Have could have been implemented as a non-skill. No reason farming had to be a skill as opposed to a distractions and diversions type articles. No reason mining/woodcutting/fishing has to be an ability, it might just be a minigame with various factions which you dump points into like Barb Assault. No reason construction needs to be an ability, why can't it be according to our crafting level? Just because you can imagine some random non-skill implementation of it does not mean it is a bad idea for a skill.
I feel that that is a small misconception. It reminds me players believed Hunter would be like Slayer since the names suggest similar things. The only aspect Ports would share with the proposed Sailing is Buy Rs gold that you could customize a boat. The gameplay could be night and day; one was an idle port direction similator while another was of an adventure/dungeoneering design activity. Without doubt it would have been more interactive, but it depends on how far they'd have gone with it. Procedurally created islands with different themes and dungeons under them ripe for the shooting would have been cool.
