If you have played with the MH series (which if you haven't you should, the show was inspired by PSO and has been Sony's Capcom's answer to buy meseta pso2 the internet activity genre), It's like how MH4 and MHW compare. MH4 has a slower and more deliberate pace. MHW has a pace. Neither are bad, just different experiences. It's free give it a shot, to perform. Don't expect it to meet with the PSO void. I don't think I will ever quit playing PSOBB even with PSO2 due to their differences.Great analogy using an MH4 vs MHW comparing to PSO vs PSO2. I could not think of a better way to put it. The two very good matches, both FEEL like they belong in a really different manners, just from the same match collection.
I'll speak as somebody who also logged many hours into PSOBB myself back. As has been said, PSO2 is paced than the first PSO. Phantasy Star Online 2 itself feels really different. The biggest factor for me is how fast you'll go through most assignments. I have not taken to complete any one mission, and that includes the present end game material on NA. To put it in a way that you are likely to relate to, no assignment I've done thus far has felt just like a complete episode 4 desert run on Ultimate or a Central Control Tower run in episode 2 (I'm certain you understand exactly what I mean).
The other major shift is that it's not so much about maxing stats (although this remains significant ), but it is more about properly building your skill tree for your final game as YOU want to play. With the accession of a main and sub class combination forcing your build, there are a number of ways to create each class efficiently (in some cases, more than 1 way is end game viable). Min/maxing stats isn't as significant, which I like. Overall, I say go for it. I put in countless hours to PSO2 and that I do not plan on quitting.
Yes im in precisely the exact same boat as you I adored psobb as it was on Sega servers and that I chose to play on schthacks then. Pso2 is the next step following psu(which I didn't play) and while remaining true to the feel of a pso game. The one thing I miss as this point in pso2 is that the infrequent drops you want are rng and not an absolute drop just like in bb. Theyre way distinct. I lost interest with PSO2 160 hours. That is weird because there is alot more content and maps, but it doesnt feel alive and warm and BB did. While theres alot more options to produce teams and stuff like that dont seem to cooperate all that much or play together. People jump in a mission and run through it mostly silent.
The economy is shattered, a handful understood what things sell and to hoard back later or of individuals abused glitches. And Mag farming and trading arent something that was among my favourite characteristics of the PS games. Nobody runs right into a room and drops rares for fresh Phantasy Star Online 2 gamers also takes them through the dungeons their time like back in the day.
