PSO2: NG is going to have an entirely open world

  • There's plenty of fresh content with Episode 5 to PSO2 Meseta help keep players active, and the story is back to being focused around ARKS and fighting the Dark Falz. Alongside these exciting new features, new things and Scratch Tickets will also be out, and new Urgent Quests are going to be on the way to freshen up things in PSO2. There are still many details to be revealed as time goes one, but some significant things like combat and the planet are much clearer. Hiro Arai out of Sega has been live for nearly an hour to show footage off of gameplay and speak about what new things are on the road. Not much was mentioned about the present game and the update coming alongside NG's launch other than the graphical upgrade, which will be looking great.

    Maps are no more divided up into regions with loading screens. NG is going to have an entirely open world in the home base to the field. The TGS footage showed off a gorgeous new world that's a significant upgrade from the game. Arai cites that different areas can be attained seamlessly simply by traversing the world. It looks like this is the world Naberious in the current game, with forests being adjacent to tundra and different regions. Areas continue to be technically split up, but there's no loading between them. While it hasn't been directly mentioned, an open world such as this suggests there may not be single party places . Most shown in the footage were multi-party regions where there were other gamers. The cover for multi-party places has been reduced to eight from twelve in the current PSO2, but that you see will differ from area to area.

    Weather is making a much better comeback as it changes dynamically and can affect the battlefield, although the magnitude of the effect wasn't spoken of. Time may also change, and footage showed several nice touches like fireflies in the woods at night. There is no word on quick travel, mounts or vehicles yet, but Sega has implemented some new methods for players to move fast across this large new universe. Players will have the ability to run quicker following a dodge both in and outside of battle. A blue streak follows underfoot, so you'll know you're doing it right once you view it.

    The other significant addition to movement shown off at the initial NG trailer is that the glide. It goes as far as some of those screenshots have made it look. Players can get to high ground and leap off to slide and receive pretty damn much across the map. Like in Breath of the Wild, you'll have the ability to make you are way up a mountain to slide off from -- but without anything inhibiting you like stamina. It will also make for some dramatic entrances into battle.

    Sega mentioned that crafting and gathering could be getting an overhaul, and while we didn't have a peek at crafting, we did see how much nicer it would be to snag items in the specialty. Gathering can be done on the fly, very similar to Dragon Hunter: World. Get close to a product, and tap a button. Fruit can be picked in trees, you will find new docile creatures that may be hunted for meat and other items and can you buy meseta on pso2 healing items are found throughout the land as green glowing indicators called Resta Signs. It's much more intuitive than the current game.
