I likely RS gold will not get an answer, but I think one would be great for setting future community expectations, especially in light of the current upgrades OSRS are getting. Measures will launch on the 27th without any flaws. I believe someone said work started on it in March of this year. Even with Covid-19, do you believe that the amount of time invested is a decent representation of just how long this kind of content could take to make, from start to finish? Without the problems of Covid-19, do you believe the quest would have been completed faster?
I ask this, since general 2007scape does seem to have the ability to"put more information, faster". My primary gripe with this announcement is that generally speaking, a lot of OSRS's upgrades simply reflect RS3'S QOL upgrades, storylines, and attributes. Most recently, the Darkmeyer and quest has been published, which for all intents and purposes would be a graphical downgrade of all RS3's. I am aware that's insulting sounding, but more practically it is simply transferring content from RS3 to OSRS, and I think it is far simpler and quicker to execute updates into OSRS such as this because the base and storyboard currently exists, simply the sprites and zones have to be recreated for a stronger engine.
I'm biased in thinking OSRS is the easier game to develop for coding and art shrewd, any JMOD is free to provide insight and even correct me. That's all off-topic and my personal opinion. However, RS3 is the more difficult sport to develop for. If this pursuit is a fair representation of 3 weeks of work for Runescape 3 with a group of X individuals, I believe it's going to be a way of setting expectations for futures content"droughts". "This is the length of time it takes on RS3 to provide content -this- quality" will set a fantastic benchmark for the future. In addition, I think it would be a great way to introduce polling back to RS3, therefore we can see what kind of content has been provided, and what kind of timeframe we'd be studying during voting.
So we could finally feel like we have a voice and an impact in future material, a decision I certainly believe would offset some of the community's frustrations with their perceived"droughts". It might be the contrary, RS3 is easier to write code to get as it has more modern coding implementations etc. I believe a lot of the delay in RS3 is scheduled to cheap OSRS gold gloss like voice acting, animations and artwork. There's also alot more code in RS3 that could interfere with things like vacation event items, solomons emotes etc.
