Eh but it does work as the sole reason the balance stays at zero is as, per the terms of the desire, the cash is instantly transferred to a real-world account. Since you generally need money to earn money in the majority of video games, this is a desire that cancels itself out by being allowed. HOWEVER, the granter forgot about Stardew Valley, which allows you to make a lot of money through foraging and mining without the investment required. Thus OP will still be sitting pretty if they avoid games that require investments to increase wealth.
