Is it safe to go boating with kids?

  • When a child is small, parents are busy with nappies, bottles, or making them play. But soon, with age, there will be added responsibilities to your child as well.

Many parents may be wanting to relax and go on a boat ride, but what if you have a child to take care of? Well, don't worry, you can still plan on going boating, but just make sure to buy a toddler life jacket Australia for your child to wear as soon as they get into the boat. Give them all the safety equipment while letting them know how to use it.

Educate them about first aid kits, what to do if you need assistance and where the emergency button is on a radio. The more educated they become, the more your child will be protected will be .If your child’s age is less than 12 months, you only take them out boating  if the child fits in the personal flotation device.

Ensure your child wears their life vest as soon as they step into the boat, even if they know how to swim.

    • Always pack more even for one-day boating: Kids are not patient nor do they  have the maturity to handle emergency situations. Therefore,  you must tale all the essential medications and extra prescription eyewear.

    • Always be prepared to a call for help: Take your cell phone with you and  add contacts of sea tow and towboat services. Learn how to use a VFH radio for emergency scenarios.

    • Spend time teaching your kids how to swim: Letting your child tplay or swim without practice leads to injury. So try to involve your kids while boating. Once your child is mature enough, he/she must know how to drive a boat. Once they get to learn things, they automatically become conscious of them.
