Engine braking also helps cool the powertrain if there are unforeseen problems in the cooling system. Naturally, the driver has a desire to stop and figure out what the problem is. However, this should not be done.
First, it is better to accelerate, and then, without turning off the gear, release the gas pedal (unless, of course, the track is so free). The fuel supply to the combustion chambers is stopped. And the incoming air flows cool the engine compartment, the radiator and the engine itself.At the same time, the coolant continues to circulate through the system, because the transmission did not “disconnect” the wheels from the engine.
