During the early 1980s, sneakers would have what they call a “run”, and when they have passed their initial popularity stage, people eventually move on. But that’s not the case with the Shop Fake Off White Air Force 1 shoe, as people continued to seek out all styles. This prompted retailers in Baltimore, USA to ask Nike for more Air Force 1 shoes, which was unheard of at that time. And the 1,200 pairs in blue and brown made for them sold out fast. So they came up with a strategy to introduce AF1 in a new colourway every month, taking their shoe game to another level. People from New York, Washington DC and elsewhere were driving to Baltimore to cop the freshest AF1 of the month. In time, the shoe has become a serious status symbol.
