Leadership Style

  • There is no single definition of the successful leadership since it involves the personal characteristics and qualities and traits of character peculiar to every individual. However, it is possible to define the unique leadership styles, such as democratic, authoritative, and laissez-faire ones, which differ in terms of communication, decision-making, and implementation of the organization’s vision and strategy.

I have worked as a letter writer with the leader who possessed excellent communicative skills and sense of humor. He frequently organized meetings with the employees to let everyone express opinions and share suggestions regarding the working process. Moreover, this leader was good at encouraging people creating comfortable working conditions for everyone and listening to every opinion.

Obviously, such qualities as orientation to people, intensive communication, and appreciation of every opinion are the bright example of the democratic leadership style. I would like to integrate a capacity to communicate effectively and accept collective decisions respecting every opinion and suggestion. Such a strategy allows increasing the workers’ motivation and self-esteem.

At the same time, I would not integrate the delegation of responsibility to other members of the team. In my opinion, a leadership is not only listening to the ideas of other employees but giving an opportunity to express their vision as well. Moreover, the conditions, under which every employee has a different opinion, can cause uncertainties and inaccuracies.

The democratic leadership can provide many positive impacts on the health care quality. For example, the discussion of the newest technologies and methods of treatment can increase the efficiency of the healthcare services. Similarly, the analysis of the failures and ineffective techniques assists in the involvement of changes, rehabilitation, and treatment. In addition, the democratic leadership enhances the interaction between the employees and patients and result in the fruitful cooperation.

To sum up, the democratic leadership style represents many advantages to the sphere of health care services. Largely, it happens because it involves the establishment of strong relations between personnel and patients as well as quick reaction to changes and innovations.
