MIAMI ― Zack Wheeler, the Mets’ top pitching prospect, is “getting close,” to making his major
NBA Jerseys Cheap league debut, assistant general manager John Ricco said Sunday.
“We’ve talked about a lot of different dates, this window over the next couple of weeks,” said Ricco, who made the trip to Miami with the
NHL Jerseys China Mets.
“I couldn’t rule out anything at this point. We’re kind of getting close, I would imagine.”
The series against the Cubs at Citi Field that begins on June 14 or the one after that in Atlanta have been targeted as the most likely dates by team sources. That is also the projected time frame for the Super-2 deadline, which determines if a player will be eligible for salary arbitration three or four times.
Wheeler’s strong start for Triple-A Las Vegas Saturday night put him back on the fast track.
“I haven’t talked to (Mets GM) Sandy (Alderson) yet, not sure, but it was a good outing,” Ricco said. “I don’t know what that means
NBA Jersey yet.”
Wheeler held Fresno to one run on three hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out six. It was a good sign after the right-hander had struggled in his previous start, the first after taking a cortisone shot for inflammation of the AC joint in his right shoulder.
There has been no recurring issue with the shoulder, Ricco said. Wheeler is 4-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 11 starts.

NIESE ON SATURDAY
Jon Niese, who missed his scheduled start Saturday
Hockey Jersey because of shoulder tendinitis, will make his next start Saturday if he comes through a throwing session Tuesday. Collins decided to delay the lefty’s return by a day to keep
MLB Jerseys Cheap Matt Harvey on regular rest.
LOSING THE BOOT?
Travis d’Arnaud is in New York to be reevaluated by team doctors on
Best NHL Jerseys Monday.
The catching prospect, who was the cornerstone of the R.A. Dickey trade with Toronto, suffered a non-displaced fracture of his first metatarsal in April.
The hope is that d’Arnaud will be cleared to remove the protective boot and head to Port St. Lucie to begin rehabbing.
“He hasn’t been able to run or anything like that, so it would really just be getting back into shape at first.
“He’s been able to do some upper body stuff,” Ricco said. “It’s gonna take time for us to know. We have to see where he is at. First things first.
“He has to be cleared and then we can get him out on the field to see where he is.”
