Living and working apart from your partner is difficult, but thankfully Canada understands this and has programmes that enable partners to reunite. If a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident (PR) has a spouse who lives abroad, they can sponsor that spouse's immigration to Canada for the purpose of reunification; in this scenario, if the application is successful, the spouse also becomes a permanent resident of Canada. This program is similar to others the IRCC offers for family sponsorship.
