The history of dark web links is convoluted. "Dark Web" links are those that are not indexed by search engines. The term "dark" refers to connections on websites that are not indexable by normal search engines such as Google. The word "dark" is not the only one that is frequently used interchangeably, especially since the closure of Silk Road in 2013.
