Disney has spent a lot of time recounting tales about what happens when characters fulfill their wishes, but now they're finally looking into how the enduring wishing star came to be. On September 9, 2022, at the D23 expo, Disney made a big announcement about the creation of its forthcoming animated musical, Wish. Asha, a 17-year-old character who is voiced by West Side Story Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, is the protagonist of the tale of the wishing star. In the book, Asha's fervent supplication to the heavens is answered by a ball of boundless energy known as a Star. Together with Asha, Star works to protect their neighborhood.
