Sliced bread is a common staple, but it was not always so convenient to have bread already cut into slices. But When did sliced bread come out? The invention of sliced bread is credited to Otto Frederick Rohwedder, an American engineer who developed a bread slicer machine in 1917. However, a fire destroyed his prototype, and he had to rebuild it from scratch. He finally patented his invention in 1928 and sold it to the Chillicothe Baking Company in Missouri. The first loaf of sliced bread was produced and sold on July 7, 1928, under Kleen Maid Sliced Bread. The sliced bread was a huge success and soon became popular nationwide.
