When we talk about Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe in Hinduism, we often think of his divine compassion, protection of dharma, and numerous avatars like Rama and Krishna. But every great protector faces challenges—and in Vishnu's case, some of the most powerful demons and asuras in mythology have stood against him.
So, who is the biggest enemy of Lord Vishnu?
Many would argue that Hiranyakashipu, the demon king who was ultimately slain by Vishnu's avatar Narasimha, is among the greatest. His intense hatred for Vishnu, combined with his near-immortality through a boon, made him a formidable adversary.
Others might point to Ravana, who opposed Vishnu’s avatar Rama in the Ramayana, or Kamsa, Krishna’s tyrannical uncle, who relentlessly tried to kill the young deity.
Interestingly, Vishnu's enemies are often portrayed not just as villains, but as necessary forces in the cosmic balance—opponents who, through their actions, help Vishnu fulfill his purpose of restoring order.
