The iconic 911 Carrera RS 2.7 gets a facelift as the new 911 Sport Classic with a new watch.Replica Porsche Design Watches
We often talk about the similarities between watchmaking and other industries. One that is often mentioned is the obvious connection to the car. Both are essentially mechanical products that can count on a large following from all over the world. The main reason for this connection is that motorsport (and subsequently cars in general) has a lot to do with time. Acceleration, top speed, lap times and endurance records all revolve around covering as much ground as possible in as little time as possible. Another similarity is the use of limited and/or special editions. End a production run at a certain level and the watch immediately attracts more attention. Cars are no exception, and our launch today of the new Porsche 911 Sport Classic clearly demonstrates that. Oh, and the limited edition Porsche Design watch too, good measure.
Porsche can look back on a storied and sometimes difficult history and is often on the brink of bankruptcy. After a few near rescues and some sort of divine intervention from the Porsche family in the 1970s, the company is now thriving. It just released its quarterly results without elaborating: both sales and operating profit are up, very important!
Looking back, there have been countless pivotal moments and monumental cars that have had a profound impact on a brand, motorsport or cars in general. For example, the first overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, and the 18 overall championships since then. Or even into Formula 1 in 1983 as an engine supplier to McLaren, by the way, TAG funding. what's the result? In just a few short years, McLaren has won two constructors' titles, three world diver titles and 25 race victories.perfect replica watches
Not only in racing, Porsche has been able to reinvent itself many times over. After about 60 years, the 911 is an absolute automotive icon, but do you know what saved Porsche from bankruptcy in the early 2000s? The Cayenne, Porsche's large SUV. This will be a new chapter in the history of Porsche, which has built more than a million of them so far. For most, however, the 911 remains at the heart of it all, still the benchmark for sports cars.
Porsche 911 2.7 RS
Introduced in 1964, the Porsche 911 has been polished to perfection over its nearly 60-year lifespan. Across all 8 generations, one thing has remained: engine location. From start to finish, the engine of every Porsche 911 is mounted behind the rear axle, giving you a unique and exciting driving experience.
Of all the variants Porsche makes, few are as legendary as the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972. Porsche plans to build just 500 of them, aiming to qualify the 911 as an FIA GT4-class race car. The car sold out quickly after its launch at the 1972 Paris Motor Show, which convinced Porsche to make 1,025 more (out of a total of 1,525). The Carrera RS 2.7, known for its handling, with its heavy engine in the rear that can get pretty unwieldy, is one of the most popular 911s and remains a needle in a haystack model.
Porsche outfitted the car with a 2.7-liter 6-cylinder engine that produced 210 horsepower. That doesn't sound like much compared to today's sports cars, but the cars back then were much skinnier, to say the least. So, with 210 horsepower and excellent traction, the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is pretty quick. The car is usually painted off-white with contrasting "Carrera" stripes on the sides, or a bright 1970s color with black stripes. Aside from the classic Fuchs wheels, what's the standout feature? Of course the duck tail rear spoiler! This is one of the elements that ties it to its modern counterpart, at least visually.Bovet replica Watches
Porsche 911 SPORT CLASSIC
The Sport Classic concept isn't new, as Porsche gave the 997-generation 911 a special Sport Classic run. Between September 2009 and January 2011, only 250 of these cars were built, and it quickly became one of the most desirable modern 911s. The very light grey, near-white paint job has two subtle stripes on the "spine" of the car, which has a foam headliner and black Fuchs-style wheels. At the back, of course, that iconic ducktail spoiler flicks its tail in the air. Performance-wise, it has a non-turbocharged six-cylinder engine that produces just over 400 horsepower, powering the rear wheels only. Although it will cost you a million euros when the new second-hand price has about tripled.
So what's new in the latest (and perhaps greatest) Porsche 911 Sport Classic? Well, actually a lot! It's not just copy-and-paste work done by Porsche, although the basic recipe is very similar, at least from the outside. The 992 generation of the Porsche 911 remains one of the best sports cars you can buy today, although purists may find it too digital and disjointed compared to previous generations. Still, even with base-911, you can have a lot of fun and be sure it will do it time and time again. It is as reliable as the ETA 2824 or Valjoux 7750. Built to drive, built to last.
The new Porsche 911 Sport Classic is the second model to be launched under the heritage design strategy deployed by Porsche. This saw Style Porsche Design collaborate with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to reinterpret the iconic 911 models, design features and equipment from the 1950s to the 1980s.

The 2022 edition of the 911 Sport Classic features the wide-body body usually reserved for the 911 Turbo and 911 GTS, and of course the iconic ducktail rear spoiler (fixed). Stylish Grey Metallic is a very light grey shade taken from an early Porsche 356. In the middle, we again see a pair of racing stripes in slightly different shades. As an alternative, the 911 Sport Classic is also available in black, grey or blue paint, or in custom-made paint colours. Other exterior design elements include a double-bubble roof, racing rings with the number "60" on the doors and "Porsche" below, and wheels inspired by classic Fuchs designs.
Inside, the Porsche 911 Sport Classic also differs from other models. Seats and doors are in rich cognac leather, with inserts in the signature 'Pepita' houndstooth fabric. The two-tone dash houses a digital instrument cluster with a sports chronograph on top. The seven-speed manual transmission has an automatic flash function that compensates for differences in engine speed on downshifts. Sounds like fun, especially with the custom exhaust system.
Power comes from a 3.7-liter twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine with 550 horsepower that drives the rear wheels only. This makes it the most powerful manual-shift 911 available today. That way, you'll hit 100 km/h in about 4 seconds and can go on to a top speed of 315 km/h. Porsche will only build 1,250 of them, and it's sure to find specially selected customers with ease.
Porsche Design Chronograph 911 SPORT CLASSIC
Founded in 1972 by Ferdinand Alexander "Butzi" Porsche, Porsche Design is Porsche's (car company) manufacturer of choice for watches, although it partners with TAG Heuer from time to time. After all, it's no secret that the first product Porsche Design Studio launched was a watch, and they play an important role in the company's operations even today.replica watches for men
To go with the Porsche 911 Sport Classic, Porsche Design took the Chrono 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition and overhauled it a bit. At least in looks, because technically it's a very modern watch. The 42mm-wide titanium case features one-piece lugs with a black finish and a polished bezel on top. The fact that this is blacked out should come as no surprise, since Porsche Design started using the all-black Chronograph 1 in 1972.
Based on the architecture of the regular 1919 Chronotimer Flyback, the dial now comes in one of three configurations. Each has a black base with teal details and white markings. One has a solid black dial, one has a two-grey stripe like a car, and one has the houndstooth pattern commonly found on vintage Porsche seats. The Chronograph 911 Sport Classic is given a unique look with a cognac-coloured leather strap made of the same leather used in the car.
The movement inside the Porsche Design Chronograph 911 Sport Classic is the brand's Werk 01.200 automatic chronograph with flyback. We've covered this impressive movement regularly before, so we won't get bored with all the details. What we do want to point out, though, is the wheel-shaped rotors that match the car. Cool, right?
