Easy money:
-----------
Use the following trick to get a lot of money in Franchise mode. Go to your
calendar before a home game. Make the normal choices needed to play a game
(controller, pitcher selection, etc.). Then at the line up screen, exit all the
way back to your calendar. You will receive the revenue for that game. Repeat
this as many times as desired. It is a good idea to only do this on home games
as you will receive the advertising, ticket, and concession revenue. For
example, with a team like Kansas City or Tampa Bay, you will only get a small
amount of money, but it will increase your attendance. Also, do not do this
during spring training or opening day as you will not receive any money.
Easy base stealing:
-------------------
Use the following trick to easily steal bases in Career mode. When you are on
second base with two outs, the man covering the base is far behind. Tap R1 to
step out. Keep tapping R1 until the runner goes for third base. The pitcher will
throw to second base, then to third. You will have time to reach the base
safely. Sometimes the pitcher will step out and will not throw the ball. If that
happens, press L1 to return to second base.
Easy saves:
-----------
Put your closer in the game at the start of the seventh inning and use him for
the rest of the game.
Easy accomplishments for profile and franchise goals:
-----------------------------------------------------
Set up a game in your franchise as usual. However, instead of choosing your
franchise team, choose the team you are facing. When you start the game, let
your franchise's starting pitcher strike out as many players on the other team
as possible. When it is your turn to pitch, use only fastballs down the middle.
This will result in the player hitting a home run or a regular hit to the
position players. If the batter hits a pop up, ground ball, or line drive, let
the ball drop. If possible, let the ball roll away from you. Do not pick up the
ball; just stand near it enough so the base runners keep running around the
bases. This will give your players many inside the park home runs. If you need
to stop the base runner where he is, throw the ball in as he approaches the
base.
Save money:
-----------
In the offseason when you are resigning free agents, there is a very effective
way of saving a lot of money for free agency without changing stats. Instead of
lowering and raising stats, just go to "View Roster" and convert all of your
starters and closers into relievers. Resign all of them to small deals worth at
most about $3 million a year. Once you sign them, change them back into their
original position. It may not sound like much, but if you have a $19 million
pitcher like Johan Santana, it can be a lot of free money. This will also work
with turning slow players into the 2B or SS position and resigning them, or
turning small players into the C or 1B position and resigning them.
Finding Daisuke Matsuzaka:
--------------------------
There is a rookie pitcher on the Boston Red Sox with the name "Tate Baik". He is
actually Daisuke Matsuzaka.
Recommended Career mode position:
---------------------------------
When you start Career mode, play as a switch hitting catcher. Improve your
Contact (Left and Right), Power (Left and Right), and Speed, but nothing else
until you are out of the minors or spring training. You are not called on a lot
to throw out runners because most of the time the hitters will hit pop-ups or
lay down bunts.
