Here are three phases in power plays ODI matches.
Powerplay 1 lasts from Over 1 to Over 10, where fielders can position no more than two within the 30-yard circle.
During Powerplay 2, which spans from overs 11 through 40 the outside fielders can reach a maximum of four.
The maximum number of fielders outside the 30-yard circle becomes 5 during Powerplay 3, which spans from overs 41–50.
A team can use only two fielders past the 30-yard circle limit.
Encourages aggressive batting early on.
The powerplay becomes active automatically during the opening phase of the innings.
