Malegra DXT is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE) in men. It combines two active ingredients: Sildenafil Citrate (for ED) and Dapoxetine (for PE). While effective, this combination can cause certain side effects, and low blood pressure (hypotension) is one of the potential concerns—primarily due to the Sildenafil component.
Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, which works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow to the penis. This same effect can cause blood vessels to dilate throughout the body, sometimes leading to a drop in blood pressure, especially shortly after taking the medication. Symptoms of low blood pressure may include dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, or blurred vision, particularly when standing up quickly.
The risk increases if Malegra DXT is taken with alcohol, nitrate-containing medications, or certain blood pressure drugs. Dapoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), can also slightly affect blood pressure and increase the risk when combined with Sildenafil.
To minimize side effects, take Malegra DXT exactly as prescribed and avoid alcohol or other interacting substances. If you have heart issues or low baseline blood pressure, consult your doctor before using this medication.
