The all-new, fourth generation Range Rover was thrust upon the world at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and promises to be faster, more economical and more complete than ever before.
The new car is nearly 500kgs lighter than the one it replaces and promises to be the most capable Range Rover to date. The interior is, as expected, very plush. As well as being stuffed with the latest tech, it features 50% fewer buttons - much better than the last generation. The nav screen features dual-view tech so the driver can see the sat nav while the passenger can watch a film/the telly. Interestingly the voice of the new Range Rover's sat nav is also the voice of Siri in the UK.
The new Range Rover's engine line up sees the usual suspects make an appearance: diesel V8 (32.5mpg, 229g/km, 335bhp), supercharged V8 (21mpg, 322g/km, 504bhp). It'll also get an entry level 255bhp V6 diesel which primises a decent hustle thanks to the car's lower weight. It's almost economical, too boasting 37.8mpg abd196g/km.
Land Rover is also planning to make the new Range Rover the world's first diesel hybrid SUV. Using the V6 diesel engine and a 'leccy motor it'll emit an estimated 169g/km CO2, manage around 45mpg and do the 0-62mph dash in around seven seconds.
There's also talk of a plug-in hybrid, too. A properly eco Rangie? Who'd have thunk it?
