BMW is looking to eschew its rear wheel drive roots at Paris 2012. The German company has revealed the Concept Active Tourer - a front wheel drive mini MPV. Designed to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class and VW Golf Plus, the CAT (TLA time, aww yeah) has 188bhp from a combination of a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors driving the rear wheels.
BMW reckons it'll manage sub-60g/km emissions, over 113mpg, 120mph and a sub-8second 0-62mph run.
The importance of this car can't be underestimated - it shows that BMW is moving towards a more efficient and 'conventional' future. We'll be watching with interest.
