With the Barbie Digital Makeover, kids can use the app and console to apply virtual makeup to live video of their face using an iPad's camera. Set up the makeover console and snap the mirror frame into place. Slide your iPad all the way into the frame so that the camera is visible through the hole at top of the frame, then secure the latch the back to hold your iPad securely in place. This will activate the mirror lights indicating it's makeover time.
Your iPad camera will activate. An outline for your face and makeup applicator wand will appear, indicating where your face should be in the frame as well as where to hold the applicator wand in order for the app to recognize and track your movements.
Once both are recognized, you can move around because wherever you apply your makeup and accessories, they'll move with you. The app and console features three modes of play: makeover mode, portrait mode, and mascarade mode.
Hit the applicator wand icon on your console to go to makeover mode and create more than 10,000 makeup combinations. Use your finger to scroll through the options at the bottom of your iPad screen and choose between applying lipstick, blush, eye shadow, and accessories. Then select the color you want to apply by tapping the color with your applicator wand on the console. Bring the applicator wand to the area on your face you've selected on the app. The longer you hold the applicator in one place the brighter or darker the color will appear. You can apply multiple colors, add a sparkly glitter, or, if you mess up, scroll over to the a cotton ball icon to erase. Or select the wash cloth icon and bubbles will appear on the screen and wipe your face clean. Tap the accessories box icon to add sunglasses and hair accessories. Like your look? Strike a pose and take a photo by pressing the camera icon on your console.
Hit the portrait icon on the console to choose from more than 30 virtual frames, backgrounds, additional accessories, and Barbie stickers to add to your photos. You can also add talking bubbles to your photos and write a message. If you want to remove something, tap it and hit the erase button at the top of the screen. Hit the trash can to start over. When you're finished, hit save and a file will be saved under your iPad photos.
Activate masquerade mode by hitting the mask icon on the console to flip through 15 premade looks, which feature masks, gems, and themes that make your makeup look like a watermelon.
