The 2K22 town is bigger than ever... but it's not always a good thing. It feels like this team of 2K players is in the process of NBA 2K22 MT creating a basketball MMO. It has quests that are constantly updated that are scattered throughout the city, and you're asked to travel from one spot to the next to attend the purpose of a meeting.
But it doesn't detract from the primary strength of 2K22's game play on the court. I really don't want to take 45 minutes moving from my home to a shoe store just to upgrade my appearance. Let me do that in the menu using a buttons so that I can go back to playing basketball.
Additionally, the City erases what was one of 2K21's greatest upgrades - the removal of load times. Even on PS5 you'll be waiting indefinitely every moment you're trying to get out of your home or leave the practice facility. The City is just an unpleasant experience for everyone as proof that bigger does not always mean better.
In my opinion, it's a lot of fun. It feels like defensive gameplay on this court is just as effective as it has been in years. It's much simpler to slide through the court and remain at home for your assignments this year. It's refreshing to see less dramatic contact-dunks in the past. This was a long and exhausting 2k21.
Offensively, shooting is somewhat more difficult, but that's due to the increased defense, not the mechanics of the shot meters.
