John Madden's vast legacy honored by Each of the 3 Madden 23 covers
Together, Chuck Styles and design agency Cinco created each of these original Mut 23 coins covers representing different parts of his lasting legacy. To the left in the image below, the new generation (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) Madden 23 Standard Edition cover has the iconic image of Madden with his arms raised over his players' shoulders when he won the Super Bowl in 1977.
In the middle image with the older gen (Xbox One PS4. PC) Madden 23 Standard Edition cover, the history from John Madden the broadcaster took center stage. The final image, is the Madden 23 All Madden Edition cover, the cover celebrates the wide-ranging impact that were made by John Madden in uniting sports and video games.
As Styles explained, Cinco "were the ones who actually came up with the idea of highlighting the 1988 cover," as many fans probably noticed that the All Madden Edition is very reminiscent of the first-ever John Madden Football cover from more than three decades ago.
"They requested my creative interpretation which emphasized Coach Madden, remixing that cover," Styles explained. "They noticed, EA and Cinco. Their care for detail as far as being aware of my job, they've observed that I use a lot of gestural lines and a variety of vivid colors... They saw that resembled the coach's play lines when going through certain plays, and they thought 'Aw man, he's just perfect for the job!"
At the reveal for The cover Styles shared his fond memories of participating in Madden games with kids as a child, and his work is now part of the legacy. Chuck Styles also confirmed something that will not be surprising to some as the choice of John Madden was essentially universal and everyone at EA and Cinco being in agreement that he was the only option this year.
Madden 23 is still a few months away from launch, however there are more details regarding the features to be added this year, as detailed during the beta closed.
There were variations on the past, with a legend that was on an alternate cover or in certain franchises having localized versions for international versions. Madden 23 changed things up by having dual cover athletes with Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes The cover design is basic this year. Three versions are available that are available for the Madden 23 cover and each one honors an individual stage of John Madden's famous career.
The cover in the far left (PS5 as well as Xbox Series X|S) is a tribute to his tenure as the Super Bowl winning head coach of the Oakland Raiders, and the middle cover (PS4. Xbox One, and PC) illustrates his career as a journalist in shots that recall many covers from the late 90s with buy mut 23 coins. On the right, the All Madden Edition cover for every platform is a variation of the original John Madden Football cover featuring the man himself.
