Vitality: Every class should allocate at least a few points to vitality. This will increase your HP and stamina. Even the case that your class is a Sorceress who has no intention of touching, increasing your vitality will provide you with enough endurance to keep you clear of risk. The extra HP you get in the process is a nice bonus for that situation however, it is not the only thing that is likely to be needed when you go further in the action.
Energy: This is one of the most unreliable. The only energy you can really use is to give you more mana, which may sound like a good thing but there are numerous other ways to boost your mana. You can put on gear or just drink mana potions to refill your mana without the need to dump valuable points into your stat. If you do put points into energy, don't go overboard.
Don't make a mistake of selling valuable loot too soon.

If you've got, say an awesome weapon that you don't require in the first part of the game Do not sell it immediately. Give some space to the most valuable items that you find and store them until you cross over into the next act of the game. The price these items sell for could double if you simply hold them until the next chapter. Remember to make sure that the item you're selling is in good condition.
