I have a 2012 SUV with decent mileage, but lately every time I pull into the driveway and get out, I catch a whiff of hot oil. Not smoke, just that distinct burnt smell. I check the dipstick regularly and the level seems fine, so I am not losing a ton. I keep telling myself it is probably just a small valve cover gasket leak that is burning off on the exhaust, but it is getting a bit worse. I have been reading up on the indicators your vehicle needs repair to see if this is something I can live with or a fire risk. Has anyone else ignored a small leak like this only to have it turn into a bigger problem later?
