Qual foi a marca que Deus colocou em Caim (Gênesis 4:15)?
Depois que Caim matou o seu irmão Abel, Deus declarou a Caim: "E agora maldito és tu desde a terra, que abriu a sua boca para receber da tua mão o sangue do teu irmão. Quando lavrares a terra, não te dará mais a sua força; fugitivo e vagabundo serás na terra" (Gênesis 4:11-12). Em resposta, Caim lamentou: "Então disse Caim ao SENHOR: É maior a minha maldade que a que possa ser perdoada. Eis que hoje me lanças da face da terra, e da tua face me esconderei; e serei fugitivo e vagabundo na terra, e será que todo aquele que me achar, me matará" (Gênesis 4:13-14). Deus respondeu: "O SENHOR, porém, disse-lhe: Portanto qualquer que matar a Caim, sete vezes será castigado. E pôs o SENHOR um sinal em Caim, para que o não ferisse qualquer que o achasse" (Gênesis 4:15-16).
A natureza do sinal em Caim tem sido um assunto de muito debate e especulação. A palavra hebraica traduzida como "sinal" é 'owth e se refere a uma "marca, sinal ou símbolo." Em outros lugares nas Escrituras Hebraicas, 'owth é usado 79 vezes e é mais frequentemente traduzido como "sinal". Assim, a palavra hebraica não identifica a natureza exata do sinal que Deus colocou em Caim. O que quer que tenha sido, era um sinal/indicador de que Caim não era para ser morto. Alguns propõem que a marca era uma cicatriz ou algum tipo de tatuagem. Seja qual for o caso, a natureza exata da marca não é o foco da passagem. O foco é que Deus não permitiria que as pessoas se vingassem contra Caim. Qualquer que tenha sido esse sinal, o seu propósito foi alcançado.
No passado, muitos acreditavam que o sinal em Caim era uma pele escura - que Deus mudou a cor da pele de Caim para preta a fim de identificá-lo. Já que Caim também recebeu uma maldição, a crença de que a marca era a pele negra levou muitos a acreditar que as pessoas de pele escura eram amaldiçoadas. Muitos usaram esse ensinamento da "marca de Caim" como justificativa para o comércio africano de escravos e a discriminação contra as pessoas de pele preta/escura. Esta interpretação da marca de Caim é completamente antibíblica. Em nenhum lugar da Bíblia hebraica 'owth é usado para se referir à cor da pele. A maldição sobre Caim em Gênesis capítulo 4 foi no próprio Caim. Nada é dito da maldição de Caim sendo passada aos seus descendentes. Não há absolutamente nenhuma base bíblica para afirmar que os descendentes de Caim tinham a pele escura. Além disso, a menos que uma das esposas dos filhos de Noé fosse uma descendente de Caim (possível, mas improvável), a linhagem de Caim foi encerrada pelo Dilúvio.
Qual foi a marca que Deus colocou em Caim? A Bíblia não diz. O significado desse sinal - que Caim não era para ser morto - era mais importante do que a natureza do sinal em si. O que quer que tenha sido, não tinha conexão nenhuma com a cor da pele ou uma maldição sobre as gerações descendentes de Caim. Nesse momento Caim se levanta para se defender, então aquele sujeito justiceiro olha pra Caim e se dá conta que Caim e quase duas vezes maior que ele, e aí que atitude tomar?
Se fosse eu nesta situação com certeza sairia correndo.

Gênesis 6:4 Havia naqueles dias gigantes na terra; e também depois, quando os filhos de Deus entraram às filhas dos homens e delas geraram filhos; estes eram os valentes que houve na antiguidade, os homens de fama.
Há aqueles que acreditam que quando esta passagem se refere a "filhos de Deus" está se referindo a anjos caídos e "filhos dos homens" aos homens, mas eu particularmente acredito que a bíblia está se referindo nesta passagem sobre a linhagem de "Sete e a de Caim".
