I may come back with "Oh, you know I have been working on a few things for this show, for the kid's," (I will usually look around as if I am sharing an intimate secrete with them) and suggest, "would you mind/ be so kind to allow me to show you something I may want to perform for the children, you be the judge. Let me know if you think the children will enjoy this or not."
