Using its black weathered clapboard siding and diamond-paneled casement windows, the Buttolph-Williams House built in 1711 in the standard style of New England's Puritan age could be the earliest surviving house in Wethersfield, Connecticut. The Home is just about the finest restoration in the Connecticut Area of what in its time was a standard design of New England home in early colonial period.
Wethersfield is located at the upper most navigable position of the Connecticut River. It was the state's first European settlement recognized by way of a party who called themselves "The Adventurers" from Boston in 1634. The wonderful farmland in the water valley and their proper location on New England's greatest navigable water triggered the settlement to thrive.
