The most capricious element of gas-fired laser equipment (and this is the most common type of machine) is the transmitter. It is the conditions of its storage that require the most attention. First of all it is a question of the liquid which is poured into the cooling circuit. If the machine is expected to be in an unheated room for a long period of time, the water in the tube must be completely drained.

It is advisable to wrap all elements of the optical system with polyethylene film. This will protect the delicate and sensitive coating on the reflectors from external influences.
When the laser is not in use, it must be disconnected from the mains to avoid any unexpected faults which could lead to malfunctioning (short-circuiting etc.).
Before you can mothball your equipment, it needs to be cleaned internally and externally. Finally it should be covered or wrapped in a material that is impervious to dust and light.
In order for the laser equipment to operate correctly after being reconnected, the following operations must be carried out:
▪️ Check the connection of the laser tube contacts to the ignition unit;
▪ Supply coolant to the laser tube
▪ Make sure there are no scratches or other damage to the surface of the reflective mirrors and the beam focusing lens above the material surface;
▪️ Adjust the optical system;
▪ Make sure that all movable elements can move freely on the guides (lubricate if necessary);
▪ Check the tensioning of the drive belts;
▪ Tighten all screw connections;
▪️ level the machine if the measurements show that the working plane is not positioned correctly.
❗️ Important: Never switch the laser machine on immediately after moving it from a non-heated room to a working area.
