O ex-jogador Nilton De Sordi morreu aos 82 anos, neste sábado, em Bandeirantes, no Paraná, em decorrência de falência múltipla dos órgãos.. Ex-lateral do São Paulo, ele esteve na conquista da Copa do Mundo de 1958. De Sordi sofria de Mal de Parkinson.
Nascido em Piracicaba, em 1931, De Sordi começou a carreira no XV de Piracicaba. Depois jogou no São Paulo por mais de uma década. Na seleção, o principal título foi a Copa de 1958. Ele foi titular nas primeiras partidas, mas perdeu a vaga na final devido a uma lesão. O titular no jogo contra a Suécia foi Djalma Santos, que faleceu no final de julho.
Pelo São Paulo , De Sordi conquistou dois títulos paulistas: 1953 e 1957. Ele jogou 536 partidas no clube. Entre os anos de 1952 e 1965, segundo o "Almanaque do São Paulo", de Alexandre da Costa, foram 289 vitórias, 131 empates e 116 derrotas.
De Sordi morava há dois anos em Bandeirantes com o filho. Após se aposentar como jogador, ele chegou a trabalhar de técnico. Comandou União Bandeirante, do Paraná, nas décadas de 1960 e 1970.
